Classroom guidance is an important element in the delivery system of the ASCA National Model (American School Counselor Association, 2011). A guidance curriculum within a school provides all students with the knowledge and skills appropriate for their developmental level. All students receive structured lessons designed to assist them in achieving their academic, career, and personal/social competencies (ASCA, 2011). This allows School Counselors an efficient way to inform students about school-wide opportunities (counseling department services, etc.), distribute information (educational resources, post-secondary opportunities, etc.) and address student needs (preparing for school transitions, learning skills to eliminate bullying, etc.).
O-I-See Youth Strategies takes these topics and brings them outside the school/classroom to help parents with all the questions that go along with helping their child succeed academically, socially and emotionally in our fast paced world. Some possible future workshops:
-Starting Children Early: What you can do to help your K-5 child get ahead in reading.
-ACT Test/Prep: Why understanding your child's learning style can make a difference.
-Beyond High School: Getting help/advice for preparing children for the real world.
-Who am I? A one-on-one explanation of personality assessment and what it means for you and your child's future.
Please contact us if you are interested in receiving more information on any of the above workshop topics via our website contact form.
